PLACES CLOSE TO OUR HEARTS
Connect with the places that hold a special place in the hearts of Muslims around the world.
Makkah, Saudi Arabia
The Sacred Mosque surrounds the Kaaba, the direction Muslims face in prayer.
Masjid Al-Haram surrounds the Kaaba, the sacred house toward which Muslims around the world turn during prayer. Muslims come here for Hajj and Umrah, including the worship of tawaf around the Kaaba.
Islamic tradition connects the Kaaba with Prophet Ibrahim and his son Ismail, peace be upon them. Over the centuries, the mosque has grown to welcome pilgrims from across the world, united in worship of Allah.

The Prophet’s Mosque is a place of worship and a cherished destination for visitors to Madinah.
Masjid An-Nabawi was established by Prophet Muhammad ﷺ after his migration from Makkah to Madinah. It became a center of prayer, learning and community life for the early Muslims.
The mosque is closely connected with the life of the Prophet ﷺ. His burial chamber, originally part of his home, is now within the expanded mosque, beneath the well-known Green Dome. Muslims visit Madinah to pray at the mosque and offer their greetings to the Prophet ﷺ.

The Al-Aqsa sanctuary in Jerusalem holds a special place in Islamic history and is associated with the Night Journey.
Al-Masjid Al-Aqsa refers to the whole walled sanctuary in Jerusalem, including its courtyards and buildings. The name is also commonly used for the silver-domed Al-Qibli prayer hall at its southern end.
The golden Dome of the Rock stands within the same sanctuary. Its distinctive dome makes it one of the most recognizable landmarks of the site. It forms part of Al-Aqsa, alongside Al-Qibli and the other places of worship within the walls.
The sanctuary is also known as Bayt Al-Maqdis and Al-Haram Al-Sharif. Understanding the whole site helps explain how these landmarks belong together.
